What goes wrong with drywall if you wait
Holes that keep getting bigger
Doorknob holes and anchors pulled out of the wall only get worse. Loose edges crumble and a small patch becomes a larger one.
Recurring cracks
Cracks over doors and windows often come back if they are just filled. They need proper tape and mud to bridge the joint.
Nail and screw pops
As framing dries and shifts, fasteners push out and leave small bumps or circles in the wall and ceiling.
Water damaged drywall
Leaks from bathrooms, windows or the roof leave stains, soft spots and sometimes mould. Painting over a stain does not fix the cause or the damage.
Common jobs we take on
- Drywall patch for doorknob and anchor holes
- Crack repair over doors and windows
- Nail pop and screw pop repair
- Water damaged drywall replacement
- Texture matching and paint to blend
How Lower Mainland weather affects drywall
Lower Mainland homes go through big humidity swings between damp, closed-up winters and dry summers. Wood framing expands and shrinks with those changes, which is why hairline cracks at corners and over doorways, and nail pops, are so common here.
Heavy rain also means more chances for leaks around windows, roofs and decks. Water stains on drywall are often the first sign of a problem in the building envelope, so it is worth finding and fixing the source before the drywall is repaired.
Warning signs to watch for
- Holes, dents or gouges in walls
- Hairline cracks over doors, windows or at corners
- Small bumps or popped screws in walls and ceilings
- Brown or yellow water stains
- Soft, crumbling or bulging drywall
Maintenance tips
- Use door stoppers to prevent doorknob holes
- Use proper anchors for anything heavy
- Keep indoor humidity steady with fans and ventilation
- Fix leaks as soon as you see a water stain
- Repair small cracks before they spread
How G2 Home Services handles drywall
We cut out damaged drywall back to solid material, add backing where needed, then patch, tape and apply several thin coats of compound, sanding between each. We match the existing texture, prime the repair and paint so it disappears. For water damage, we help find the source first and replace wet or mouldy drywall instead of covering it up.
Every job is backed by our written promise: a locked-in price before we start, we redo anything you are not happy with, and a one-year workmanship guarantee.

Drywall Repair: frequently asked questions
Can you match my wall texture?
Yes. We match common textures like smooth, orange peel and knockdown so the repair blends in.
Will I see the patch after it is painted?
When the patch is feathered out and the wall section is painted, it should be very hard to find. We paint corner to corner where needed for an even finish.
How long does drywall repair take?
Small repairs can be done in one visit with quick-setting compound. Larger patches may need a second visit for final coats and paint.
